Reimagining the Original Space

Before the bathroom renovation, the space was functional but clearly dated in both layout and appearance. The existing bathroom featured a built-in bath positioned beneath the window, an enclosed shower, beige wall tiling, darker floor tiles and a standard vanity with an inset basin and large mirror. While the room had good natural light, the combination of older finishes and a more enclosed layout made it feel heavier and less refined than the homeowners wanted. The overall design felt very much of its time, with limited visual contrast and little in the way of standout detail. Although everything was still usable, the bathroom no longer suited the look and feel of the rest of the home. The owners were ready for a bathroom renovation that would modernise the space, improve everyday usability and create a much more polished result.

Designed for a Lighter, Modern Feel

The goal of this bathroom renovation was to create a lighter, more open and more contemporary room without overcomplicating the design. The homeowners wanted a clean, calming finish that felt practical for daily use while still delivering a strong visual transformation. A more spacious shower area was high on the wish list, along with a custom vanity that could add warmth and storage without making the room feel crowded. It was also important to introduce a softer, more modern palette that would brighten the space and give it a timeless appeal. Rather than relying on busy finishes, the design focused on clean lines, subtle texture and carefully chosen contrast to create a bathroom that felt elevated but easy to live with.

A Complete Bathroom Transformation

The bathroom was completely reworked to achieve a more open and refined layout. The original bath was removed and replaced with a generous walk-in shower screened with frameless glass, instantly making the room feel larger and more streamlined. A custom floating timber-look vanity was installed with a white benchtop, above-counter basin and round backlit mirror, creating a strong focal point and adding both warmth and softness to the design. The finishes were updated throughout with light neutral wall and floor tiles, while black tapware and shower fittings brought in a crisp modern contrast. Vertical wall panelling behind the vanity adds extra texture and detail, helping the bathroom renovation feel more custom and considered from every angle.

The Finished Result

The finished bathroom is a complete transformation from the original space. What was once a standard, enclosed bathroom now feels bright, spacious and highly refined. The walk-in shower opens up the room beautifully, while the floating vanity and soft neutral palette give the space a calm, modern character. Warm timber tones balance the lighter surfaces and stop the room from feeling too stark, while the black fixtures add a subtle edge and definition. Every element works together to create a bathroom renovation that feels both practical and luxurious. The result is a fresh, contemporary space that looks cleaner, functions better and offers a far more inviting everyday experience for the homeowners
